Analyst Shoes
This might be a pretty dumb question but what shoes should an incoming full time analyst wear. I prefer loafers but felt like no one was wearing those, especially not analysts, in my internship summer. Anything is appreciated, thanks

I have two pairs of Calvin Klein Men’s Jack Oxfords that I wear - pretty cheap and comfortable and look professional enough
Charles Tyrwhitt has good quality Oxfords at a reasonable price.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s the lowdown on shoes for an incoming full-time analyst:
Play it Safe with Oxfords: Oxfords are the go-to choice for analysts, especially when starting out. They are conservative, professional, and universally accepted in business formal environments. Black Oxfords are a safe bet and will ensure you fit in without raising eyebrows.
Loafers – Proceed with Caution: While loafers can look great, they are often seen as a privilege earned with seniority. Some threads suggest that loafers might be acceptable depending on the culture of your bank (e.g., U.S. banks might be more lenient than European ones). However, it’s safer to stick to Oxfords initially and observe what others in your office are wearing.
Avoid Flashy Brands: Stay away from flashy or logo-heavy loafers like Gucci or Ferragamo. If you do opt for loafers, choose clean, black ones without excessive branding.
Internship Insight: If you noticed during your internship that loafers weren’t common among analysts, it’s a good indicator to stick with more traditional footwear like Oxfords.
General Rule: Always prioritize professionalism and conservatism in your footwear choices, especially in the early stages of your career. Once you’ve established yourself, you can consider experimenting with styles like loafers.
In summary, start with black Oxfords, and once you’ve gauged the office culture, you can decide if loafers are appropriate.

Black cap-toe oxfords with a decent shine is a safe bet. Allen Edmonds makes a good pair. Velasca Milano as well.
Loafers aren't work shoes at most offices. Oxfords are the staple and you should probably own a pair of Black Oxfords for certain occassions, but if you want to go with something more comfortable for regular wear you can also go with a Derby. These Allen Edmonds Windsors are my favorites, once you break them in they're really comfortable. I'd go with a pair in black, and a pair in Chili. You just missed the sale, but 2x per year they go for ~$250-300 / pair (not worth it at $425). Also, before you buy dress shoes, get your feet properly sized using at least a Brannock device. 60-70% of people are wrong about their shoe size, which is probably why most people think leather shoes are uncomfortable
Chili is a terrible name for a nice looking brown shoe.
If you see them in person it makes a bit more sense. It's not a flat medium or dark brown, there are some red hues in there as well
