Bankers still wearing slim pants like its 2013

image-20240807154648-1

Men, all over midtown I see pants that are too short, tapered slim on the ankle, creased from your poorly circulated legs, and raised barely above your buttcrack. You're stuck in 2013.

Women's pants today are generously cut, drape nicely, and sit well on the waist. This has been the trend since like 2020.

I get that men always fall behind trends, but some of my Gen Z Tik Tok guys heard the memo; millennial wtf is going on?

Thanks

So, you're the 'Wtf' intern, huh? Great job on the whole 'mastering your own tasks first' thing. Keep up the good work, champ.

yeah cuz youre going into the office not a fucking soho vintage shop

also to give a more definite answer as a fashion head, the current women office look was popularized by the likes of phoebe philo (during her celine stint, when it only made clothes for WOMEN) and such a long time ago. the brand and the aesthetic targeted smart business women, so it makes sense they were and are in trend. same thing did not happen to menswear.

yes, a more baggy look have been popular for guys since like a few years ago, but that does not mean those exact trends translated into guys' office looks anywhere in the world cuz it looks fucking stupid to wear them shits in the office. I do not think the ankle cut, slim fit pants will go anywhere as they are the cleanest, most proportionately pleasant look for professional office workers.

Fashion changes. What used to be “old man slacks” were just classic fit pants (see any business/finance outfit pre-2008). But now that old men wear slim fit slacks it feels refreshing again. Wide fits have been "in" for like the past 5 years in Europe and Asia, but the American male consumer is slow to jump on radically different fashion cycles like this. Basically, it won't happen en masse until Gen Z gets older, more established in their careers, with more purchasing power.

Show what you think men's pants should look like and it better not be pleated.
