Do Analysts have work bags? (male)

Seen a bunch of conflicting stuff on this. Do straight male analysts bring bags to carry their laptop to the office? Think banker bags are great for gym, not for fragile laptops...

I don’t want to use backpack. I also don’t want a manpurse. what should I get?

Also, leather bags don’t need to match shoes, correct?

I have a leather backpack. No one gives a shit.

“Destiny is a gift. Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon their shoulders is really a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero. Don’t think. Become.”

because at least mine does not have a compartment for laptops, so it would be shaking around in there which I don’t want. not sure if others banks’ bags do

I’d advise against getting a bag. The key to a successful office romance and professional networking is for you to bump into them and drop any and all belongings that you were holding. When they help you pick them up you’re in poll position to get their number, exposure to better deals, or even mandates if you pull this off at the senior level.

I think carrying a laptop and dropping it will increase the returns from employing this strategy by increasing pity and confusion.

I presume that you're not in NYC. Nylon or similar briefcase or laptop bag is expected. Bonus points if it has your company logo on it. Extra bonus points if it has a legacy company logo on it.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Maybe someone else has already said this or something similar, but go for the Ralph Lauren duffel bags if you want sturdiness. I've got the heritage, leather-trim, canvas one and it's my go-to both in the office and when travelling.

Wtf kind of questions is this? It’s 2022 and kids who are allegedly smart enough to land banking gigs are also now so insecure they need to ask an online forum if they may “look gay” by carrying…a laptop bag. That’s right, a fucking bag - as in, for your work items.

Nah man - totally gay. All straight guys are just carrying all their things bagless and hoping they don’t trip on the walk home. Surprised you haven’t seen this at all yet, must be because everyone’s gay.

Hi, I'm gay.  I like guns, sailboats, convertible sportscars with manual transmissions, Italian motorcycles, Baseball, Hockey, messenger bags, and twinky bottoms with washboard abs.

I was told a long time ago never to wear a backpack with a suit because it makes you look ridiculous and like a school child. BEST ADVICE EVER RECEIVED.I got myself a bag 💼 that's strap goes over the shoulder and down by my waist. Leather as well.Trust me, your wearing a suit or even shirt with dress pants. Get a over arm bag. Burn the backpack.Don't know about everyone else, when I see a grown man with a suit and a backpack on I can't help but laugh. Ridiculous, immature man child. You've given up on your image if your a man wearing a backpack. (In a professional environment)Burn the backpack get a real bag. Only time you should see a backpack is if your going out on some physical activity, camping, hiking or anything of that sort.

Get a leather bag, doesn’t have to match your shoes. If you need to bring gym gear get a little gym bag to throw in a top and towel.
