The obvious: Peter Millar

The classic: Polo RL

The sleeper: Tommy Bahamas

Adidas or Nike for golf polos.  They're great for golf or when you're oozing alcohol after a night of hard drinking. You could run a 5k in 90* heat in them and nobody would notice you were sweating. Non-iron and look decently classy during summer office-days.

Amazon Basics are also a sleeper choice for "looks inoffensive." You'll get no compliments or insults (and in my office we WILL insult you) on days that you want to blend in.  That's not bad for $14.99

Keep a couple Lacoste polos for when you need to pose around the country club.  They fit well, but aren't worth the price.  It's a signaling thing--Wearing them says "I belong here, but I don't have strong opinions or want to stand out."

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Peter Millar is obviously the ole reliable but I’ll never order a polo from their website - they have the country club pro shop market by the balls and every nice course I have the good fortune of playing I’ll snag a polo. Call me a logo whore but I’m a sucker for a nice club crest on the front left chest. Used to be bigger into Johnnie-O when they came on the scene offering a slightly different take on the country club style but they’ve gone too far up their own asshole recently charging exorbitant prices for lame ass product. I think Bdraddy is the most promising newcomer in the market right now tbh. A touch more casual than Peter Millar and just enough non-traditional flair that you won’t have to worry about matching your grandpa when you play a round with him at his club.

Other notables are Holderness & Bourne and Greyson. The former brand has staked their claim around the collar and in fairness it’s quite crisp. Never really sure where to wear their polos though, as the material is not quite athletic enough for the golf course and not quite understated enough for a nice dinner. Their sweaters however are fucking fire. Greyson on the other hand is trying to be a bit more fashion forward and is very hit or miss in practice IMO. My firm has a relationship with them so I’ve ended up with a few pieces inadvertently, one gets a spot in the rotation and the others have yet to be called up.

Apropos of nothing, do any of you guys find Peter Millar polos to be way too fucking long? I get they’re supposed to be tucked in and stay that way for a round of 18 but when I want to throw one on for a casual dinner without tucking it in the hems hang almost to my knees. Guess that’s a problem for my tailor to fix but damn I feel like there should be a happy medium
