It is a nice gesture, but personally I don’t think it’s a great use of funds. Mostly because watches at that price are not going to be good watches (they’ll be fine) and for that much money you can get other nice things that they may not spend their own money on. I normally use the measure of “buy something someone wants but wouldn’t really want to spend that much on” as a gift. So imagine getting someone who likes wine a $200-300 bottle, it is something they would really enjoy and want but would feel uncomfortable or at least think twice of spending that much money.
At that price I’d actually get someone who is really into running a garmin watch.
If you are set on getting a watch look at some citizen watches, maybe a tissot, shinola, or Hamilton khaki field watch (a little higher than your price point but is at least a solid watch).
Second this! At that price point I’d get them Mont Blanc pens and ask them to sign your guest book with it or as someone mentioned give them a nice lighter (DuPont comes to mind) and a nice Cuban. Much better than an ‘ok’ watch (no offense - but if one of your friends wear a Rolex or and iwc or better and you give him a seiko it’s just going to be weird...) Just a suggestion obviously.
I did engraved zippos and cigars for mine. For the bachelor party I did monogrammed metal yeti cups. Went over well.
Completely agree with the above. Not sure what your financial horsepower is but I wouldn't buy a bunch of 300 buck watches given that amount of money goes a much longer way with scotch, wine, gadgets etc
seconding posters above. I’m a big watch aficionado and if you want a nice automatic watch (vs quartz battery which are not considering authentic), it’ll cost at least 1k a piece. hmm maybe get a nice bottle of patron or some nice ties for them instead
