How are these shoes for banking? Border-line unacceptable toe shoed?
Hi all,
I've done my search, and it seems most "square-toed" shoes are very clear cut. But what about these? I'm starting a banking internship, and I'm wondering if these would pass.

Probably because they are conservative and more people prefer that type of shoe.
It's probably a matter of style too. The first two shoes that you posted are ugly imo. The third ones are okay but I don't like the flat front. Of course, I have a difference taste.

i personally own couple ferragamo loafers, seems like the OP wants to spend under $200 though...
I read on another forum here that if you want cheap decent shoes these were okay

I personally would stick with J&M, then again depends on you position. I am going into a SA so after speaking to people I should just get 2 pairs of J&M oxfords in Black and Brown and call it a day.

Allen Edmonds are a great shoe, but can be a bit pricy if you are just an intern. Still, as you can re-sole them, it might be good to invest in a pair now.
It's not a bad idea to have 1 pair for when you need to look perfect (interviews, client meetings) and another for just rolling around the office. For the latter purpose, Rockport, Nunn Bush, and Ecco are great. I had something like:

and they were nearly as comfortable as sneakers. Rubber soles, while not as professional as leather, are nice for winter. Over-boots are also an option, but I find them incredibly awkward.
ITT: a bunch of dudes more concerned with their shoes than my GF
Just get AE's or Johnson Murphy. You can get them resoled and they will last a decade. If you are going into banking you can afford to drop 600 bucks for 2-3 pairs of shoes.
I have shoes about a decade old and still going strong. Consider it an investment.

As I wrote earlier go with either Johnston & Murphys or Allen Edmonds. You'll be wearing them for years and both are good quality. They also look good (I'm sorry but Cole-hans, Rockport, Bostonian-clarks, Eccos, etc are in a different league... go to the mall and do an eye-test... I know Edmonds has their own stores in NYC but they also are sold at Nordstroms). Nothing wrong with investing 1k on four pairs of shoes. You'll be wearing them for years.
loafers are ok as long as they are conservative, stay away from square toe, and I agree with ANT....shoes are a investment, they can always be resoled
