How many suits/shirts do you have as an analyst?
I'm starting full time in a few weeks, and I have three nice Charles Tyrwhitt poplin weave shirts, in white, light blue, and light purple. I'm in a tech group in the West Coast so not as dressy as New York, but I figured probably 5-7 shirts should be good? Would you mostly stick with white shirts?
I also have a Suit Supply dark grey/charcoal suit that I got tailored and it fits nicely, and two belt/shoe combos in brown/black (Edmonds). Is this a good wardrobe to get started? Thanks

I have 6 white shirts, one dark navy suit that’s been tailored, and about 4 pairs of pants (charcoal, navy, black). I’ll probably add pieces to the wardrobe over the next couple of months as payroll starts, but feel like I have a solid starting point.
When I started I had probably 6 or 7 dress shirts and 2 suits. At this point I probably have 13-15 dress shirts and 5 suits, which is more than you really need but I like to switch things up. As an analyst, 5 shirts and a suit is probably sufficient to get started, although it also depends on how many days you're in the office

2 suits (Dark Navy, Dark Grey) both with 2x trousers.
3 more trousers (shades of dark blue)
4 white shirts
2 blue shirts
2 blue stripe shirts.
1-2 sweaters/zip ups
4 days a week, office where you dont need to wear a suit unless you have a meeting.
Do you wear shirts multiple times before dry cleaning? I went into FT with 8, and struggled to keep up with dry cleaning.
I wear shirts 2-4 times before cleaning them (with an undershirt). I cycle through my pants for 3-4 weeks before having them cleaned. I never wear a full suit to work.
Launder your shirts, no dry cleaning. Also no starch and on a hanger, not boxed, when they come back from laundry.
Do not dry clean clothes unless they really need cleaning — a bad food spill. I wouldn’t recommend cleaning more than 3x/year. The chemicals weaken fabric and shorten life of suit. Better to use a steam iron to get odors out of suit. A good way to freshen up a worn suit when it doesn’t yet need cleaning.
Also, invest in wooden clothes hangers made to let suit jackets hang naturally. Don’t use those wire hangers from cleaners. They’re fine for shirts, but nothing heavier, because they create creases.
Also wooden shoe trees for leather shoes. Buy best shoes you can afford and get them resoled the first time you wonder if they need new soles and heels. Good leather shoes last forever and look better with age.
