Is Steve Harvey correct?

What are your thoughts on Steve Harvey's Suit Recommendation? This is a YouTube short video and it looks like Steve Harvey is just recommending suits to people off camera while they wrap up. Sounds legit to me but I've not started work yet so I would like to get your opinions on this before I make a decision and buy what Steve Harvey recommends.

Here is the video:

Can’t see the video, but if it’s the one where he’s like “these 5 suits can make 70+ combos” then I disagree. He says the first suit you should buy is black - entirely wrong. Black suits are for funerals. Dark navy or charcoal is the safest best for your first suit, and you honestly do not need many suits. I haven’t worn one in 2022 (own 5) and have worn a blazer maybe once (own several). I even interviewed for my new job in just a vest.

Get in shape, get properly measured, and then buy a navy or charcoal suit. My first suit I got junior year college - it’s a polyester navy suit from JC Penny. My college had a deal going on so I got the suit (jacket + pants), belt, and 4 dress shirts for around $200. The quality is “garbage”, but I spent $20 to get it tailored and it still fits amazing. I always got compliments in college, and although someone who knows about clothing can tell it’s cheap if they’re close, it looks great from far away because it fits well.

Suit Supply makes great suits for the price, but unlike some people on this forum, I realize that $500 for anything is a ton of money that someone might not have. My dad wears Wrangler jeans from Walmart almost 24/7 and makes more than most of the users here. Don’t overspend because you want nice stuff. A cheap suit from JC Penny or Macy’s will absolutely work well enough if it fits properly.

To add to this, do not feel bad if you don’t know something. First time I ever tried on a suit I buttoned both buttons. Didn’t know the difference between an oxford and derby shoe until probably senior year college. I showed up to lunch with the CEO of a bank in khakis that were way too big, a pink dress shirt with white stripes that was also too big, blue blazer, and Sperry boat shoes. Had no idea how to dress “nicer” as that wasn’t part of my lifestyle up to that point.

A few months later I’m asked if I can pose for our career fair because my tie is “perfect”. I got to be the face of the career fair in a JC Penny suit and tie.
