Mens Warehouse Burgundy Tie in an Interview?

Would a burgundy tie be okay to wear to an interview? I hear red is not a great idea, but a reserved red seems to look nice with a light blue or white shirt.

This is what I was looking at:

I left my nice ties back at school and can't justify spending $90 at Brooks Brothers for one interview so Men's Warehouse will have to do.

What do you guys think?

That tie looks a little shiny, but it may look better in person so don't let me ruin your confidence in your tie. If you have time before the interview or for the future, get ties made in the USA or the UK exclusively. You will be happy you did when you see that your cheap ties pick and lose their pizazz after a few wears and the quality ones last and last.

I'd recommend even buying gently used ties off of ebay from a reputable seller and get something like Brooks Brothers or Charles Tyrwhit (they usually have fair prices on their site and decent quality all around.) It's not the kind of stuff an MD would probably be wearing, but it gives you a little more credibility. As ginNtonic said above, don't get carried away with cheap ebay prices and get anything too ridiculously expensive. If you go too far into dressing nice people that came from nothing may think you're a spoiled little rich kid and think negatively of you, but the ones wearing the Hermes and Ferragamo stuff won't be looking down their nose at you at the same time if you have a smart but reasonable tie.

In the short term, don't worry about it. It's probably not going to make the difference between you getting an offer or not- just a suggestion.
