Shoes - Loafers acceptable?

Would a Tod's leather loafer be acceptable for an analyst? Or do you have any other quality "slip-on" type business shoe? I can't stand shoes with laces because my pant gets stuck in them and I don't like how it looks.

Exactly what I was going to say. Get their black captoe and never look back.

And I'd think that you'll probably have to get used to laced shoes at some point. Idk why your pants would get stuck - maybe switch tailors?

This... American-made baby (in Wisconsin)! Also if the leather gets ruined you can send back your pair and they will stitch on a new one for $90.

I also like my Johnston Murphy's. They're less than half the price of Allen Edmonds and I've had a good experience with them. If you want to own a dozen shoes then get some Murphy's in your closet. If you want several pairs, invest in Allen Edmonds. I also like cordovan Brooks Brothers shoes. They're a little pricey and heavy but they will last a long time.

J&M Melton's are good alternatives to Allen Edmonds for those on a budget.

Allen Edmonds & Fratelli Rossetti - Both very nice. Thanks!

blahwoop - ferragamos are nice but as an analyst I'm not so sure...

if you want laceups, AE but for loafers, I prefer ferragamos. However, get a feel for your group culture before springing for ferragamos. In my group, a bunch of analysts wear bit loafers and no one cares, because they do quality work and don't talk about their shoes. If you are in NYC check out nordstrom rack. They have some solid Bruno Magli bit loafers and if you are lucky, some ferragamo and gucci as well at significantly reduced prices.

I wore ferragamos in ops. Spent my entire bonus on a pair (had to dip into savings a bit actually, $475 is no joke even with the Saks friends and family sale).

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

i switched off park and 5th avenues for a while, but crockett and jones makes nice loafers if you want to change it up (they are pretty well regarded by my friends in london and are a younger man's british shoe). I never got the bit loafer thing honestly, and my foot is really thin (to the point of mis-proportion) so I actually stay away from the super skinny Italian shoes

Ferragamos might seem like a lot a little as an analyst but they last forever. Also, Cole Haan has some great dress loafers. Also a bit pricey but they have this deal where you can send them in, get resoled, refinished, and fixed up for like 50 bucks for life.
