Solid as hell. But I'm sure you already knew this so this is likely a subtle brag. Although if this is your first foray into the watch stratosphere I'd recommend PP.

Divine. Royal Oaks are beautiful, elegant and relatively discrete. The movement in APs will always be worth it...
APs don't scream business to me, but if you have that kind of money to spend I'd stick with IWC.
AP is seen as a tier (or two) above IWC. You can get something more complex with more bells and whistles with IWC vs. paying the same amount to get something more entry-level from AP, but that's because the AP brand does cost more. So it's just a matter of for $X do you prefer one brand to another or wanting more complications for a watch. Plus, IWC - aside from its portuguese and portfofinos are mostly known for its pilot watches, many of which are quite sporty and don't "scream business".
AP's most well known watchline is the Royal Oak. The classic/original one can work in multiple settings and it has a very recognizable, distinctive look (which may not be everyone's cup of tea).
I don't let the price dictate the quality. I guess it's just me that associates those watches with rappers , because they look ridiculous.

Basic Royal Oak is what? Like $12k?
Are you looking for a sport watch? If not the IWC Portuguese 3714-82 is around that price point and gorgeous. If sport then yeah, the only IWC I could think would be one of the Ingenieurs.
I've always thought of watches as kind of more of a statement on your preferences and what you think is cool. I'm not going to bring up someone's GMT or Sub but I'd probably comment on one of the less gaudy Royal Oaks. There's a point where the correlation between money and taste begins to diverge, and I think it's the Royal Oak Bumblebee.
They always struck me as a little gaudy - but its a matter of taste. They definitely have the "pedigree" of a solid manufacturer.
AP ROOs are great. Dressy enough to wear with a suit and casual enough to wear every day.
I'd take an IWC pilot watch (pre Mark XVI) over any RO for business use without even thinking twice. I know the AP is somehow considered a classic, but I second the "gaudy" comment from above... Not good style in my book.
AP is top-tier along with Patek, Vacheron, and ALS. Watch snobs will appreciate them.
I would stay away from the AP Royal Oak Offshore line if you want to wear it with a suit, too gaudy and very white-trash looking with a suit. I would recommend an AP Royal Oak jumbo (reference 15202) or an AP Royal Oak chronograph, both are very classy and go very well with formal and informal attire.
As others have said, AP is a great watch brand. Personally, I do not like the typical AP look. The AP watches I would recommend (especially if you want to wear the watch with a suit and still have flexibility to wear as a casual watch):
Jules Audemars Chronograph (probably my favorite - also the "gstaad classic" version) Jules Audemars Perpetual Calendar (much higher price point than the entry level) Jules Audemars Equation of time (a little too cluttered for my taste, but if you like that sort of thing it is a neat watch)
I also love the minute repeater (classic look, simple) but you are then into the $100's of thousands.
If you like the AP look, then I would stick with a simple RO. Regardless, this is all personal taste at this time, great watch brand, just figure out whether or not you like the look.
