UK - cheaper options for shoes/suits?

For shoes everyone recommends church's/ cheaney's but I was hoping for black oxfords possibly under £100/£150. Would these be acceptable to wear? https://www.clarks.co.uk/c/Stanford-Walk/p/261478… , or if not please offer alternatives

For suits I don't currently own one, is it best to start off with a dark navy one? Is it okay to get a cheap one from debenhams/next (e.g. https://www.next.co.uk/g252201s3/834824#834824) or is it worth dropping £300 on a suitsupply one?

Additionally, if I'm wearing black shoes with a dark navy suit what tie colours can I wear?

Thanks for any advice

You can buy suits for about £200-250 at places like TM Lewin and Hawes & Curtis, with maybe an extra £30-40 if you need alterations. You shouldn't have to pass the £300 mark for decent quality suits. Additionally, you can find pretty good office shoes from Office for well under £70 (under £50 in some cases). Get a single navy suit to start and get 4-5 shirts (again, places like TM Lewin or Hawes & Curtis do deals where you get like 4 shirts for £100). 2 white and 2 light blue if you get 4 or 3 white and 2 light blue if you get 5. No more than 2 ties are necessary and stick with classic colors such as 2 different shades of navy blue or 2 slightly different patterns. With a navy suit you can wear black or brown shoes.

Agree with everything this man says - apart from shoes.

Invest your money in a good pair. They don’t need to be £500, but £100-200 is worth it. Comfort and durability is everything when you’re spending 16 hours a day in these things. Plus, people CAN tell the difference, and shoes are actually the second thing someone notices about you (first being your face). Keep them clean.

Also, don’t wear brown.

I've gone on TV in Indochino and Amazon.  A decent tie is the answer

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

They look VERY cheap imho. I'd go with Suitsupply or something like that if I were you. Two suits (one navy and one in grey) are enough for the summer.
