Wearing a Rolex as an Intern?

I am going to be at a PE MF next summer as a summer analyst. I am lucky to have a few nice watches from my parents, and wanted to ask the consensus on wearing one as a summer analyst. I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way, so was looking for some advice. Is a Rolex out of the question, and should I wear something more lowkey or no watch at all?

Totally fine. A pretty solid number of interns show up with them, people understand your parents/grandparents may want to gift you something or maybe you bought it with prior internship money... not a big deal. Agree with above not to rotate different watches / otherwise flex your wealth, but no one will care.

Also, I would not wear a Pepsi/Kermit/any other "flashy" model but a simple one is completely fine.

It's best to wear a modest, understated watch rather than anything flashy like a Rolex. The focus should be on your work, not your personal style. A simple, classic timepiece is the safest choice to avoid drawing unwanted attention or appearing ostentatious. The key is to blend in and let your performance speak for itself.

Don't wear it. You'll be judged as a spoiled intern whose unaware of his place ("he certainly DID NOT buy that watch"). Especially since some FT analysts are yet to afford one. Wear a modest watch like a Seiko.
