Wearing black and not giving a fuck

Quite honestly, I don’t really care about the navy - gray rule and happily wear black dresses from time to time. Black makes me look GOOD, and I would never hesitate to wear a black dress to the office. Wall Street needs to abandon its stupid rules, for real, and stop being stuck in a bygone era.

Do whatever you want, if you’re a guy you will 100% get shit on either to your face or behind your back by one of those Bankers from the “bygone era”. So go for it, but you will reap what you sow.

I think that rule only applies to suits because a black suit makes a guy look like he is at a funeral. Black dresses are totally fine. I'm pretty sure that rule has always been just a guy thing.

Dayman?

Why would you come to a forum to notify people that you won't abide by normal finance attire? Wear what you want but just know that people will be weirded out by that analyst who looks like he's about to drop roses on a casket. No one has any kind of itch against black but it's more dressing for the occasion. No one is trying to impede on your sense of uniqueness or whatever is triggering you to post this. Also no one cares if you feel like a Prada model in black vs the standard navy - again it's more about the perception as a junior banker. Once you start earning money for the firm as a more senior banker, wear seersucker or pitch-black if it makes you perform better as a producer. See where I'm going with this?
