ask the seller to snap a pic of it on a mannequin, it hangs like shit on that hanger. Although if the price is right and the fiber is good, you can always tailor it.

Yeah, tailoring, that's exactly what I thought. I'm placing my bet based on the fact that Armani uses really fine material, and I'm hoping to make this into a better jacket with an additional investment.

Looks like its from 1995. The gorge and buttoning-stance are really low. I wouldn't go near it.

When one man, for whatever reason, has an opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

IMO machine stitch on the lapels looks cheap and the marine/military buttons don't really go with the cut of the suit

James BondWhy would you buy an orphaned suit jacket? Discerning people will be able to tell it's not a blazer or sports coat.
Which one are you talking about, the first one or the second one?

I'm not sure what you are asking... Do you mean how can I tell that it's machine stitch vs. No stitch, or how can I tell that it's machine stitch vs. Handstitch?

BTW, here's a blazer of the same cut as your first choice. As you may see, it can look quite crappy if not properly tailored (but it's just all around too big, look at the creases from the shoulders)
