Pretty much this.
That is the widest tie I've ever seen.
anything between 3.378" and 3.715" is acceptable
Mine are 3.25. Is that good?
no burn them
This is really a good question. From what I understand, girth is much more important than length.
Glad someone posted this as I have been wondering myself. It is my understanding the ties by Hermes ( or any remotely wild) are not acceptable in finance; is this true?
They are acceptable, but only higher ups wear them. Or, as @GSElevator" puts it:
1: Don't show up to an interview in a Hermès tie. I don't give a f*ck if you can afford it, you have to earn it.
Whatever looks good.
It should be the same width as the length of your dick
I read somewhere the tie width should match the width of the jacket's lapel
correct
Go too wide and you run the risk of looking like Chandler from Friends.
Looks great! I think the 2.5" is definitely the right balance. How long a tie should be still has me confused though, maybe someone could write a guide about that.
Go too long and you risk looking like the president of the United States.
I go to the the belt (waistline, essentially; end of tie touching the middle or top of belt). Some people prefer it a little shorter; some a little longer. At the belt is a pretty solid metric for tie length. I wouldn't venture too far outside of that. As long as you don't wear your pants like a gang member or a grandpa this metric should work just fine.
On the topic of ties..
Tie Dimples; single dimple, double dimple, or no dimple?
