What was your first watch that got you started in the watch game? Was it a Seiko, Casio, or Citizen? What is it?

What was your first real watch? Those who have a watch collection which watch in your collection means the most to you? Any cool stories in regards to that watch?

JLC Reverso single face. The second face has an engraving is a list of the 10 things I love most, the first 5 lines have been filled in already, the second half has yet to be filled in and are left blank for me to fill in in the future. I like the history and the rectangular shape. Haven't had the need to buy another watch. Not super common, goes well in casual and formal situations.

A couple different Citizens and a vintage manual Longines.

LOL!! Super Gaudy! I grew up having the Casio Men's A158WA-1DF Stainless Steel Digital Watch.

My style is more classy and into classic dress watches. My first real watch was a Seiko 5 SNKL41. A great dressy watch! Most compliments I've gotten on a $100 dollar watch ever!

Hell nah! For $10 Milli I can do more than a watch LOL!

Imagine wearing it out to Vegas one night and getting trashed and waking up without it on and unable to be found. Gotta insure it.

First was a Fossil in high school haha. Then was a Skagen in college and then when I could afford a real Swiss watch, I got a Longines as my first foray into real "luxury" watches which was 1.2K. Since then have bought two more pieces, an Omega seamaster aquaterra and a JLC master ultra thin moon. Has been over the span over ~6 years. Super targeted buys for me and always had the pieces in mind for a long time before pulling the trigger. Despite being a spendy guy, I think one needs to think long and hard about why one wants to drop 5-15K plus on a timepiece before actually buying, especially when not super senior. Getting a fat bonus in a given year may seem like a clear pathway to doing so, but remember, you gotta ration it/invest it/save it so it needs to be a very deliberate decision founded in your own interest, not in trying to fit into any kind of mold you think getting a fine watch will get you in. Hope this can help

Super agree! I think behind every watch it's good to have a story. A reason why the purchase was made. The life and different experiences that it has been through.

My first watch was a Seiko 5 SNKL41, still have it in the stash. Something about the first one that started it for me.

Started my collection with a watch I got in high school from my father. An old Bulova, still perhaps one of my favorite watches. I think its no longer produced so I rarely use it to preserve it as much as I can.

The next watch was an Oris Aquis Date. This was my first "real watch" as it was in the range of 1-2k.

My most recent watch is a Rolex Datejust 36mm, now targeting to buy either a JLC Reverso or a Cartier Santos.

Awesome!! That first watch is pretty special, even more so if it was passed down to you by someone in the family!

I consider the first "real watch" as the watch that got you started into the watch game. It can literally be any watch. That first one will always serve that special purpose. It got you crazed!

Very first watch was a no name steel sports watch with a green dial (ahead of its time) my parents got me for like $15 when I was 10. Remember dropping it one time a few months after getting it and some of the indices fell off the dial. It was a piece of crap but it did start a passion for watches that hasn't disappeared since.

After that, watch journey has been: simple Seiko automatic > Bulova 96A135 > Orient Sun & Moon > Tissot Couturier Chronograph (university graduation present from the parents) > Seiko Blue Lagoon Samurai > Grand Seiko Shunbun and Omega Speedmaster

Its been a fun one, next on the list is probably a JLC or Glashutte Original of some sorts
