Both look like regional PWM shoes.
Edit to be a little more helpful. If you're going to be in banking, I personally think the minimum should be Alden-level shoes. There truly is a huge jump in quality from the $150 range to the $300+ range, especially in person (vs crappy online pics). I'm not saying you have to get $800+ Prada lace-ups, but I would really encourage you to take the hit now and buy a shoe that can last you many years, rather than blowing your money on something too embarrassing to wear to client meetings a few years down the line.
Johnston & Murphy are pretty good shoes.
The ones you linked don't have a leather sole though and people feel strongly about it.. For what its worth, I own a pair and mine are really comfortable Its one of the cap-toe styles.
sell both and get yourself some gucci, mane
I recommend you keep neither and get a pair of allen edmond shoes. AE park avenues are the standard.
This is the right answer. Both the shoes you linked to look extremely cheap. Even if you're buying inexpensive shoes, don't get ones that look like these.
AE, Park Ave, black, done.
If I had to pick one, the burgundy ones. but I would return both and go for something thinner and younger looking.
just got HYDE PARK II CAP-TOE for $275 which is the median level of J M classic series ($175, $275, and $375). AE standard is $335 which is over my budget.

I have to second the opinions about Allen Edmonds. They are truly boss.
well, thinking differently, everybody wearing the same thing feels rigid and stiff...without thinking about the budget.
Both are nice, and I understand being on a budget. The first pair is a nice classic shoe, but the johnston-murphy one is a bit more modern/younger looking. I think you would be fine with either, but if you were to go with only one, I would go with the JM.
Those are both fine...u dont need to wear Aldens or high-level shoes as a junior banker just stay away from square toes or anything to clunky. Both of those are pretty classic and conservatively styled which is what's important. That said, a better quality pair of shoes will last 20 years so it isnt neccesarily a bad idea to spend a bit more on this item.
+1
I agree with some of the former posts but I think if you can afford it I would reiterate getting something with leather soles. Just makes the shoes look so much classier IMO. Yes this generally means higher price tag but sometimes you can find something on sale. Classic Cole Haans are always a good pick in my book. The investment into something you can wear for 2-3 years is important.
Both of those are Bluchers (Derby) shoes. They are less formal than an Oxford (i.e. AE Park Aves) simply by design. I personally like oxfords better, but those are nice. I have 1 pair of AE Park Aves in Black, and 1 pair of Fifth Aves in Walnut.
