Collars and shoulders are hardest to fit. BB probably does them better than anyone. Fabric, workmanship and fit elsewhere (sleeves and chest) are pretty easy for everyone to do well.

If you have the time and the money, BB MTM is the way to go.

I looked at Amazon's shirts but it looks like they only have regular fit ? Is it the case ? How do they feel ? I don't want extra fabric under armpit you see!! Ahah

Amazon Buttoned Down comes in three fits, and they have a very aggressive Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee: "If you are not completely satisfied with your Buttoned Down shirt at any time, we are happy to give you a full refund."

Here's how they describe the different fits:

  • Classic is our roomiest fit, cut broader across the shoulders and relaxed through the chest and body.

  • Tailored is cut 1.5" slimmer through the chest and 2.75" slimmer in the waist compared to our Classic Fit.

  • Fitted is cut 2.5" slimmer through the chest and 2" slimmer in the waist compared to Classic Fit.

If you're not wearing a tie and rolling up the sleeves, approximate fit like Mizzen & Main or Uniqlo might work out just fine, particularly if you match one of the models they had in mind when they did their S/M/L sizing.

When you're wearing jacket & tie, you really don't want a collar that's either uncomfortably tight or loose & sloppy. You also want sleeves that show just a bit beyond your jacket, but never cover your hands. Bad fit is apparent across a conference room, way before they can see that you're wearing a really nice watch.

You can check out the sizing here. When charts like this say "16-16.5" or "33.5-34" they tend to be at the upper end of the range. https://www.mizzenandmain.com/pages/fit-guide-dress-shirts

I tend to have a hard time finding shirt that will last because my arms are long to the point where shirts in size 35 sleeve length fit me exactly. If my shirts shrink just half an inch in sleeve length I start running into problems.

Since I've been wearing Brooks Brothers 16 35 dress shirts as casual shirts instead of buying regular L sized shirts, I've stopped running into this problem. From personal experience I can tell you the quality of the Supima cotton is good because after multiple washes, the shirts still don't shrink.

Funny you mention it. I've been wearing BB for sometime now and I'm a skinny guy (6'2", ~170lbs). I've always worn BB's slimmest fit in shirts. They changed their fits not too long ago and renamed their slimmest fit "Extra Slim fit" to "Milano". It was an ok fit in terms of baggy back in the pre Milano days but I've honestly noticed that now that the fits have changed a bit and the names have changed, Milano fits really well. It's definitely slim and well worth the money when they run their sales.

Glad it works for you. Guys who are looking for trimmer waist can find it in London from Charles Tyrwhitt Super Slim of TM Lewin Super Fitted.

"JacobMoore8" "The Oxford collar is for college professors, democratic socialists, and people who still shop at Brooks Brothers."

Yeah I'm not sure why people here are buying oxford collars for work. On the weekends under a sweater, sure, but your collar shouldn't have buttons in a formal setting. This isn't the early 90s.
