Same thing's been happening at dealbreaker & zerohedge... surge in finance blog traffic lately?
been a bu8mp in traffic - but not anything meaningful to slow down the site. We added some keyword links last night that i think slowed us down. They've been removed but it will likely take ~5-10min to clear through the slow queries to the server...should hopefully be speeding up any second...
ok, it is a "bit" better, but I think we will start refocusing on performance in the coming few weeks to make sure we dont hit any bottlenecks as recruiting season comes around. next goal, keep pageloads under 1.5 seconds.

How much more traffic on average is there during the peak recruiting seasons during the year?
...tough to say bc every year we've been growing by 50-100%, but I'd say from June/July lows, we should jump this year ~30-40% (a bit less since we are growing off of a larger base)...but that is just a guess...hoping it will be more like 80-100% which is possible.
I'm hoping the FAQ section will take a bit of pressure off of our Certified Users once the prospective chimps are back to school.
