Site Rollback/Error

Did anyone notice that the site was down for most of the day yesterday (1/28/08)? Also, it seems that when it came back online, it has been rolled back by a day or two. There were a couple good threads from yesterday that disappeared completely. My banana count was also rolled back to what it was before I contributed to those threads.

Missing threads include "How soon do traders trade?" and a thread on class of '08 analyst salaries that was picking up steam and had some good info in it.

What happened?

Hi WSO - also wanted to let you know that I lost private messages that were sent/received over the last couple days. Any way we can restore these?

We were having major issues yesterday because cache was deactivated and the server was overloaded. a new module was also installed that created about 8k new nodes called usernodes. I will be creating these so that people can subscribe to specific users, but will take the site offline in the future. In my attempt to get the site back in working order I reverted to the backup from the previous night at 1am.

We definitely lost some new users and great threads. I am not sure how I would bring those back, unless i reverted back to the copy last night, but then I would lose everything that has been going since last night. ie, i'm making people unhappy either way.

I am really sorry and I can assure you in the future we will be more careful when trying to install some new functionality. I hope this didn't screw too many people over.
