what stupid mod keeps moving topics

seriously. look at the Get a Job section; seemed like almost half the topics were removed. some of them were legit, like what should an SA be thinking if he doesn't think he's getting a FT offer

half the threads on this forum are stupid anyway... and you keep locking the other ones? wth

I will look into it. Thanks.

Yea, everything is getting moved to the Get A Job forum, which wouldnt be an issue, since a lot of it is about getting a job, but its about getting a job in IB... so since more people actually look at the IB forum, why don't we leave it there. Clean up some of the garbage posts about the best way to jerkoff at work rather than moving all the decent topics to forums where nobody sees/responds to them.

Some of our most knowledgeable and valuable users do read the Get a Job forum and help out the people posting under the proper forum topic. To argue that we are "moving all the decent topics to forums where nobody sees/responds to them" is missing the point and simply not true. If you want to read about IBD specific topics, go to iBanking Bullpen. If you want to read about interview tips, resume tips, etc. go to Get a Job. The mods have done a decent job at keeping the threads in the right place. Encouraging everybody to dump in the iBanking Bullpen is the exact opposite of what we need in terms of keeping content organized.

If a topic is related to resumes, GPAs, interviews, etc. then it should go in the Get a Job forum. otherwise the IB forum will be flooded with this type of content which many of our most valuable contributors don't want to see...it will just make it harder to find relevant stuff for everyone if everyone adopts that attitude and the moderators stop helping me.

it doesn't have anything to do with selling ad revenue like trade4size thought (it used to but now we don't sell at the forum level anymore) BUT it does help keep the site more organized. If a post is about the best way to jerk off at work then that should be in Monkeying Around. There are some grey areas like if someone is asking if they heard back from 1st round interviews or a superday. I think those threads can stay in iBanking Bullpen because they are looking for IB/job information, not specifically asking for advice on how to LAND a job.

Does that make sense?

Thanks, Patrick

The point is for people to post in apropriate forums. Remember that wso is ultimately a business. Patrick loves this site but he is not doing it for charity. I have a major problem with threads being posted in the wrong forum. The ibanking forum is NOT , I repeat NOT designed to be the generic "dump your post here" forum. Its a lot easier to sell advertising when your forums are targeted.

So I've been trying to post a forum topic trying to sell my WSP Premium Package and the mods keeps moving my topic even though I've posted it at the Monkey Marketplace forum. Anybody can tell me what the guidelines are so that my topic are not moved by the mods?

Okay, I need your guidance and I lack experience. So which forum should I post it under? I thought the Monkey Marketplace is the forum to post items for sale. I did not post it under the ibanking forum.

Your thread is in Monkey Marketplace. What are you complaining about?

It is in Monkey Marketplace. But if you go in, you can see that my posting is not accessible and is annotated "This topic has been moved". This is what I can't seem to figure out. I have deleted the post and re-posted the topic several times but the same thing happens. I am not trying to spite anybody. Just trying to figure out what's wrong.

boegiz, we just did a major upgrade and the reason it is not accessible must be either because #1 it was deleted -- maybe initially posted to the wrong forum? or in our upgrade something is wrong in the sense that when a forum topic is moved it is not accessible.

I tried a few others and it looks like it is a bug. apologies for the inconvenience guys...I will add it to the list and try to get it fixed asap.

To be honest... I can't even read the boards anymore. The front page of TT and IBD are literally 75% moved threads and half of them are the same thread. I understand wanting every thread to be in the proper place, but there is certainly a cost associated with that... and its showing.

just to address the original OP, please be patient with us. our intention is not to lock or make any threads unavailable, it is simply to keep them in the proper place. We just made a big switch (http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/major-upgrade-to-drupal-6-this-sa…) and there are many bugs we are currently working through so I apologize if you don't have access to some of the threads you are looking for. We'll try to get them all back online asap.

Thanks, Patrick
