WSO has gone to shit
I feel like over 70% of the posts on this site nowadays are shitposts / trolling / giving awful, misleading information.
It's extremely tiring to see constant posts like this (https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/investment-…) or this (https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/investment-…), along with bank rankings every 5 minutes.
What happened to the site that used to give qualify information prior to Covid?
I agree, people used to spellcheck their posts too.
The site is fully of high school and college kids who are doing the same thing they did to TFM and Old Row, that's the way it works.
Just enjoy the shit posts and try to find the nuggets of advice.

Just try and ask good questions and create interesting threads and discussions to tip the balance against the tide of prestige/ranking circlejerk analyst 1s. There are so many amazing, experienced people on here that come out of hiding for interesting topics.

What really bothers me is that this trend will push out the old guard of constant but helpful posters, and disincentive future good posters as this place is starting to degrade into 4Chan shitpost quality. Really hope this doesn't happen as this forum helped me to secure my internship and later on my FT re-recruiting when I ended up not getting a return... Couldn't have done it without the quality advice from the genuine posters

yup...working on banning trolls/ problem accounts faster, but they are fast and furious nowadays.
Start IP banning. The level of racism is beyond the pale and is bluntly a turn off. Before I would have unreservedly recommended the site to perspective bankers, now I don’t mention it.
The bigger problem is that a lot of the shit posts aren't good. There are a few quality shit-posters on here, and it would be tolerable if everyone else was their caliber

Yes, it seems that there used to be a lot of AMA (Ask Me Anything) posts by professionals who were willing to answer questions regarding their jobs, career paths and career advice. Last year or two, I've noticed there are virtually none of these, and those were arguably the most helpful aspect to WSO.
Reddit legal came after us for calling them AMAs...so we had to change them to Q&As... there are still at least a few per week :-)

I don't think issue is there are "no" helpful posts; it's just that they seem to be far fewer and further between.
I really only started frequenting this site at end of freshman year (rising junior now) and even I’ve been feeling the same way. Used to be one of the best resources for finance.
Reddit must have found out about this place. When Reddit sends its posters, it's not sending its best. They're weird, they're far left, and some, I assume, are decent interns.
