Advice
I am a university student (International Business, third year) seeking advice.
I have only recently realised that I want to pursue a career in finance. I have some specific ideas in mind. My aspirations are very high, and so is my motivation - however, my degree doesn't include any finance courses, and it is too late to switch. To acquire the same skills as any finance graduate, I am now taking on 6/7 extracurricular courses annually, as I am aware that I lack some basic financial, mathematical and analytical concepts; I am applying for a finance master in 2022, and I am also studying as an autodidact to sit the first level of CFA next year. I am committing myself, my time and my (sadly quite limited) financial resources to get where I want to be, but I currently feel like I am 'stuck': it is very hard to find an internship in this field if you're not pursuing a finance degree; I have zero connections (they're important, let's face it) and I feel like I am running out of time, because I will graduate next year. This, of course, doesn't mean I am about to give up - I know where I want to be and that I will eventually get there, the question is: how, given my limited opportunities? What would you advice? Do you think it's realistic for me to continue on this path, or did I miss the proverbial train?
