This will vary dramatically depending on what team you are interviewing for. All the teams operate independently of eachother and have zero overlap when it comes to investment professionals.
It's for a credit team. Do you happen to know what the process for them is or even just generally?
The only comment I have is that generally the first round is on the phone with someone from the home office who is in charge of sourcing investment talent for all the teams. They are not basic HR people and ask good questions about your investment process/philosophy.
Not familiar with that team so I don't have any value to add beyond this.
Usually impossible to say unless you know someone who has gone through the process for that team specifically.
I interviewed with credit team a while back
Was a couple rounds of speaking initially with Artisan recruiting people, then guy who ran their team’s operations and a couple analysts. Then went into office to interview with the entire team and PM. First couple rounds gauging my investment process, then final round pitched a couple credits I was familiar with.
The PM is kind of an awkward guy / hard to read but extremely sharp, investment process more similar to HFs vs what you might expect a traditional LO credit role to be like.
Can you expand on the process point?
He puts a pretty big emphasis on trying to get alt data-driven variant view over shorter time horizons (team has a data analyst who does this all day) and generally has quicker turnover of positions / more concentrated than most high yield funds I’ve seen.
Modeling there is also more granular than you probably see most places in performing credit.
Good track record reflective of all the above. IMO it’s one of the best seats in the space from a pure investing standpoint.
