Anyone know anything about these guys (outside of what you can see on the adv part 2 etc.)
They have been around for a while apparently - team looks quite solid. I feel very under qualified so just curious.

They are deep-value, activists. Look at their analysts' coverage, it's all cyclical businesses.
Also a total CBS shop.
Picked up some of that- is it a decent place to work? Any notable things reputation wise to be aware of?

I interviewed there back when things fell apart. They had $1.3bn, but one key institutional LP dropped them and now they are down $350mn, a lot of which is from founder I think.. They "rationalized" the asian / Japan team + strategy (they all left or were fired I assume). I was in the interview process as this was happening and then I got ghosted.
They have a bias to lower multiple stocks - not that all "value" investing needs to be that, but stylistically that's what they do. They tend to trade the same stocks they know very well, and so will trade the same name for many cycles it seems like. Buy some industrial name at 8x and sell it at 10x or whatever.
The only counter is that they might be in the right spot again depending on how market evolves, and some LPs might be interested in getting back into value mandates. I think they lowered fees. Overall, probably not a great situation to be in.
