Best PostGrad programs for Global Macro

Fellow Monkeys,

Looking for your guidance on which masters would be best for landing a job at a HF or AM focused on Global Macro.

For reference, I have a couple of years experience in the desk of a BB at an EM. Masters would help me relocate to a financial hub, as my country has close to no market for HF/AM globally focused.

I'm thinking of masters in financial engineering or quant.econ and Finance. Thoughts on that approach?

Hey there, fellow primate!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, if you're aiming for a job at a Hedge Fund or Asset Management firm focused on Global Macro, a Masters in Financial Engineering or Quantitative Economics and Finance could indeed be a solid approach.

In the European context, there are several programs that could be of interest to you. For instance, ETH Zurich offers an MSc in Quantitative Finance, and EFPL has an MSc in Financial Engineering. HSG St Gallen has an MSc in Finance and an MSc in Quantitative Economics. In Italy, Bocconi offers an MSc in Finance with a Quantitative Finance path, and Politecnico of Milano has an MSc in Mathematical Engineering with a Quantitative Finance path.

In the Netherlands, you might want to consider Amsterdam's MSc in Quantitative Finance or RSM's MSc in Econometrics and Finance. Austria's WU also offers an MSc in Quantitative Finance.

Remember, the industry has become far more quantitative in recent years. Having extensive programming experience (Python, R, Matlab, etc.) can make you eligible for far more jobs.

Also, don't forget to regularly commit extensive time for independent macro analysis, regardless of what you study.

Hope this helps, and feel free to swing back with more questions!
