I mean Tom Scholz and Rob Zombie are some good singers from Boston. Assuming you meant Single Managers, Atreides, Finepoint, Abrams, Starboard is technically Boston.
Adding FullyVested's list: WhaleRock, Brookside, Stockbridge, Shawspring, Altimeter, Adage.
Baupost, Acadian (technically) / BrightSphere
A lot of shops starting in Boston these days, the place is slowly becoming a combination of CT and NY.
What’s the reputation of Atreides considering they’re relatively new? I know Gavin Baker did a great job at Fidelity but curious to know how much of that has been successfully replicated at his new fund
3 YR Annualized return of ~17% solely from their 13F. Investors can choose if they want their money in the public markets or in private equity. They also have a VC angle going on there. The style is to look for tech stocks with misunderstood moat and or a turnaround story, kinda like investing ahead of the curve. Gavin did ~19%/year during his time at Fidelity, guess that is why they are at ~$5B right now. If he keeps this performance up, Atreides will easily cross $10B mark within 10 years. 5y at best.
Bump
Would add WhaleRock, Brookside (Bain Cap), Stockbridge (Berkshire), Shawspring, Altimeter, and Adage.
Definitely strong tech orientation.
LOL @ whalerock / uncle bradley @ altimmy
Uh Baupost?
Lol @ shawspring being mentioned as "the best"
Abrams Capital
Finepoint.
Is Bracebridge a SM?
