Can you break into Quant Finance from NYU Stern?

Hi I recently got into NYU stern and I was wondering what the scene was like for breaking into quant finance.

I know its not as good as schools like MIT, CMU, etc.

Also, would getting a masters in a field like CS afterwards improve the odds of getting a job like that.

Thanks.

Hey! Thanks for inquiring with us! Unfortunately, we cannot accept students from NYU Stern into Quant Finance.

Jokes aside, you can definitely get into a quant seat from stern and will have some more off the run opportunities available if you use the city location to network with smaller managers. I made the jump into quant from a much less "quanty" school (though still solid) with little relevant experience.

Just start learning the relevant material early, go through the interview books, and cast a very wide net and its very doable.

definitely careers in "quant finance" that don't require a lot of quant skills, mainly trader roles. I would just suggest taking more of the math-oriented courses in your program, and try to take a probability and programming course.
