DEShaw fundamental analyst intern
Anyone interviewed with them before or familiar with the role? Have no idea what they are going to ask. I assume they will ask a lot of math questions….

why would they ask a lot of maths questions...?
because I heard that they like math people. Also my major is quant so I guess they will ask relevant things
You're applying to a fundamental research position, they like mathmos for their quant investing arm... You might get some maths brainteasers but nothing on the level of the quant interviews or anything relevant to your degree; mostly because your degree isn't relevant to the role itself.
Any thoughts on De Shaw as a firm and the fundemental team? What’s it like working there? Comp?
This is more applicable to interns, but I hear that while they have a good culture, their return offer rate for internships are very very low.
Could you elaborate on this at all? Like what determines the fact that return rates are so low?

Interviewed with this group recently. A lot of emphasis on culture and fit during the process and making sure you buy into their culture. Also a lot of discussion about previous academic research and trying to understand my research and problem solving process. People I spoke to were nice and certainly extremely smart with very strong backgrounds (especially academically). Friend in the group told me that culture is pretty good and hours are very reasonable.
