Do any of you plan on starting your own funds? What are your long-term career goals?
I'm curious about what everyone's future long-term goals are for those who have made it into this side of finance.
Is comp expected to be so good that starting your own fund is unnecessary? Is the industry not friendly (or discouraging) towards startup funds?
Compared to fields like tech, it seems you rarely hear about a bunch of young guys who start their own fund and succeed extravagantly. Wondering if that's an industry standard.
Hopefully I get to a point in life where I can just start managing my own book while teaching at a college.
