Early Career Quant to PM Development Plan

I'm an early career quant with my strongest knowledge being in ML / stats / CS and introductory knowledge in financial engineering / fixed income. Within ~10 years I'd like to position myself for a PM role but realize my investment knowledge needs to greatly improve for that to be a possibility. I don't currently have an experienced mentor or curriculum in place for guiding this knowledge development (which I had for the areas I'm stronger in), so the most efficient allocation of developmental free time is not as obvious to me. Some potential routes I'm considering:

  • CFA (Heard mixed reviews on this being a waste)
  • Online Financial Engineering Master's (Decent portion may be redundant with what I already know)
  • MBA (Will need to work awhile beforehand and not a huge fan of taking that time off for school)

Any input is greatly appreciated.
