How much are the top guys at Pershing and Lone Pine type funds pulling in after their stint in MF PE? I frequently hear them referenced as the top funds on the street.

is MF PE required to break into these funds? Obviously a lot of people go that route but do these elite SMs hire straight from banking?
What do you mean the top people? There are very few people in the investment teams at this place, the comp across the board is high (very high) but also with a heavy tilt toward founder.
Do you talk to Ackman daily? Can't imagine who else would be frequently calling Pershing a top fund on the street otherwise, and I'm not even one of his haters.
To your question, idk probably $300k-$500k coming out of PE and depending on that year's performance. But who knows and who cares, those seats are so hard to come by they won't be won by someone with a passing interest because they pay well.
Pershing’s returns are strong, certainly better than most L/S funds. Given the size of the team it is paying well above $400k to someone coming from PE. For context, $350k is comparable to what a lot of “good” HFs pay people out of banking.
Pershing square is def regarded as a top fund. Idk what you are on about.
Ackman is also known for paying generously. Generous is relative because he has a large AUM and something like a 10 person team from what I understand but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were making upwards of 7 figs in a blowout year like 2019

really? You think 2-3 years is enough time to transition to a risk-taking seat? Seems really fast. I've seen analysts do 10+ years in 2 or 3 different places before taking the plunge.
