Equities v High Yield

Just curious how L/S equity and HY differ in terms of career, comp, WLB, etc. returns seem somewhat similar, but less vol in HY..

Currently in equities for last 4 years but have been given a good opportunity to move to HY, but don’t know much about it tbh

I work in credit so will offer my 2cents. Bond markets are clearly way less efficient. That being said, you really have to be ok with 1-massive downside on names and 2- capped upside. The combination and general lack of vol makes it hard to generate returns. Exposure to credit for LPs is just a portfolio construction thing, not the fun thing that will generate returns. Also hard to engineer returns with leverage because not as liquid as treasuries. It also can be harder to put on shorts of size than you think, so not like you can engineer returns that way.
