I am in the late stages of a process at a T3 pod.
Confusing process and roundabout.
do not know how to evaluate the PM without friends at a given fund.

sometimes biz dev just go around fishing for info for 3-4 rounds before ghosting you.
in my experience, I always at least know who the PM is (either from the recruiter or biz dev). I do think it's a big red flag

This. If you don't even know your future boss' name, let alone have met him, you're nowhere near late stages.
BTW the whole "won't tell you his name as he hasn't joined yet" is very fishy. We've all interviewed with guys building their team before they started. Having the team assembled as much as possible by day 1 is the whole point.
