Event-driven strategies out of undergrad- exit opps?

Was wondering if anyone with experience in the event-driven/merger arb space could comment on what a career path may look like out of undergrad. Interviewing for a firm that has a strong event-driven strategy, but I've mostly learned about sell-side and fundamental equity opps, as those are primarily the ones that recruit out of undergrad.

Even if the comp would be better than everything else I'm pursuing, I'm concerned about not loving the work and having a hard time pivoting if it's all I've done. What would exit opps look like outside of other special situation strategies?
