Got a job at small hedge fund but have no idea what's next.
I've recently gone down a dark spiral of trying to figure out how my career can progress. I'm 7 months into my first full time role and it's at a HF. I thought it would be easy from here but now I realize I don't know where to go in the future or how to even find a new job at another fund. Currently I'm a trader at a very small shop in Baltimore, I love it here but its a quant fund and I am not a quant. I've been self studying advanced calculus and linear algebra as well as advanced stats but I'm not a PhD nor will I ever be. I (like so many others) hope to be a PM and ultimately start a fund one day but I have no idea how to progress my career.
The trouble I'm having is that I don't see roles that match my experience, either you need to be a quant or you need to have a background in fundamental. I feel like I'm stuck out in no mans land.
Also, how do you actually find roles at HF's they don't exactly career sites like JPM or BAML? Baltimore doesn't exactly give me much opportunity to rub elbows.
Hey rangersfan990, I'm here to break the silence...any of these links help you?:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
