Hedge Fund Head Hunter Master List
Hey guys, thought it would be helpful if we can crowdsource some sort of master HF HH list and understanding who covers who. There's quite a few names out there that will be mainstream (DSP, etc.) but would be great to hear if any other players and interesting clients (think for example gold coast covering Dragoneer, etc.). Thanks!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights into hedge fund headhunters and their client coverage:
Dynamics Search Partners (DSP): Known for a strong presence in hedge funds, particularly in Texas and California. Some confirmed clients include Apax, LG&P, Vista, and GTCR.
Gold Coast: Covers notable clients like TPG and Elliott. There’s also mention of Dragoneer being associated with Gold Coast.
SG Partners: Legacy relationships with Blackstone and Crestview. They also cover Sixth Street, GIP, MSIP, Tailwind, and One Rock.
HSP (Henkel Search Partners): While primarily focused on private equity, they also have hedge fund clients like Anchorage and Tiger Global.
Oxbridge Group: Focuses largely on middle-market clients but has been mentioned in the context of hedge funds like Viking and FPR.
Amity: Covers clients like Matrix and ValueAct.
GoBuySide: Known for MS Capital Partners and other hedge fund clients.
SearchOne: Another player in the hedge fund recruiting space.
If you're looking to build a comprehensive list, the WSO Company Database is a great resource to filter by industries like headhunters/recruiters. It’s also helpful to narrow your focus based on the type of hedge fund (e.g., distressed, macro, long/short) to better align with specific recruiters.

Is there even a point in using head hunters for these big 4 pods when you can just reach out to their biz dev instead?
The only plus I’ve found using hhs for platforms is that they’ll negotiate your offer for you
Going via headhunter just makes you a more expensive hire i think.
Wouldn't that negatively impact your chances? Or is the cost difference too marginal for them to care.
Options group - Citadel, BAM, Mill
does options group have an exclusive on any of these roles, or can you just reach out to BD?
Don't think those searches are exclusive, for example, I had a few HHs talking to me about p72.
Btw, p72 seems like they're always looking? or anyone knows what's going on?
Great thread guys, very useful to know that HHs are indeed in touch with the big 4 pods. Stunning investigative work by WSO users once again
This. And apparently P72 is always looking too!
