Help with Modeling
hi everyone I'm building a simple financial statement model (IS/BS/CFS) and my balance sheet doesn't seem to balance by a very small amount. the equity research model I've looked at for the same company just has a plug but it really bothers me that it doesn't balance quite fully. is there anyone willing to help me to maybe audit the model? happy to pay as well!
Hi OP, BS not balancing is normally because of disjunction btwn BS and CFS. Some quick fixes:
Make sure bottom line of each BS section (eg, total assets) is summing correctly.
Go through every line item in BS and make sure its yoy/qoq changes are accounted for on CFS. Cross of each line item as you go through it.
Some common mistakes: eg, changes in working capital on CFO. AR and inventory go up on BS, that’s cash outflow not inflow. Make sure the signs are flipped.
If doesn’t work, I’m happy to help you out by taking a look! No money required
does the imbalance grow / change each period or is static (the same each period?)
This helped me a couple times:
