How can I tell if I’m burn out or I just don’t like the job
Struggling with answering this question and hoping maybe ppl that felt the same have figured out a way to frame the answer (I know different for everyone). Having been in the industry for a few years, I have generally liked researching businesses, like markets, pitching stock ideas, etc, but have just kept thinking if the constant stress is worth it and grown to be a bit more indifferent/uninterested in things that I thought were interesting. For the ppl that have left the industry and gone to work for corporate or even different job totally, why did you do it? For those that have stayed, other than money what keeps you motivated?
I have not been in the same situation personally, but have you considered staying in the industry but taking up a less stressful role, or try to enjoy the job more and cut the stress? One thing about the industry is that you'll always be able to find another job if something doesn't work out either on your side or your boss's side.
Maybe I'm drinking the kool aid, but I still love the job 5-10 years in. It's sometimes pretty defeating when crap goes against you e.g. macro dictating the market, but I can't imagine doing anything else that I would enjoy more. The thought of going to corporate and losing the autonomy + adding bureaucracy gives me nightmares.
