How much would you pay for a ChatGPT wrapper that sums up a 10-K and 10-Q report?
Which can then build out a quick and efficient excel financial model for you?
Feel free to add in any other features, comments, demands, or requests. Curious to hear the pain points of analysts, PMs, and other HF employees.
Edit: I'm genuinely surprised I'm getting any feedback at all. It's all negative, but trust me, negative feedback is good, because it tells me not to bother with this market. But any other requests or pains you have throw at me and lets discuss your problems.
edit: mb didn't read
I'm still down to get feedback and hear what the market demands. So feel free to tell me what it is you want. Ask away.
$0. The whole point is to read it yourself and try to uncover ideas - this is like lesson 101
You can still read it and have the AI generate a model for you that you can tweak with plug and play assumptions. I’d think saving yourself time on a model or anything would be valuable. Unless your time isn’t as valuable then?
The whole point is to read so you can make judgement calls on the numbers - ie, if anything needs to be excluded or included and how that affects the business as a whole etc. This cannot be automated without losing alpha.
And as the guy below said, what you’re talking about already exists and is not getting any traction for the aforementioned reason
Based on your profile I assume you’re a software dev with no finance exp but you’re trying to build something helpful - this is awesome man but I would advise you to find a co-founder with incumbent expertise to save you a lot of trial and error

First thing I thought of when seeing your user name:
This already exists my dude. There's like 3-4 different platforms my firm has been pitched to do this. If you're too lazy to read you could also just put it into chat gpt which could essentially do the job as well
NGMI if you don’t know what the existing solutions are, what they try to solve for, what has worked/not worked. I get that you’re trying to get primary data here, but the way you frame the Q makes me believe that you haven’t done the work and you want others to spoon-feed you your entrepreneurial thesis. Finance is a competitive field and if this is your approach, you are DOA
First step in solving a problem is defining a problem and understanding the scope my friend. Asking questions is part of the process. Also what's DOA?
perhaps an AI tool to decipher acronyms would be the better product idea
diligence on assets surely
DOA = Dead on arrival
I think you should consider, how is this product different than sell side research initiation report + their model / canalyst / whatever else?
I guess the main answer is that its cheaper (potentially)
But this is the holy grail for tools for markets here, because even Canalyst has struggled to automate the whole building models thing with clean accurate data and formatting. Perhaps the AI gets good enough to overcome this though. Which is why all the big boys are already releasing tools like this anyways
Yes it would be nice for an AI that was trained on research outputs and all of the inputs (all filings, models, notes, interviews, whatever) and could spit out the level 1 bull/bear debate and set up on the stock.
So far I have been a bit underwhelmed by my demos of AI that pulls from filings to do anything more than information retrieval, at best. Best use cases of the main LLMs have been more targeted, such as "here is all the relevant sell side notes and news on this big question, break down this one specific question with everything I need to know about it." Needs lots of prompts, which is fine though
I think most upstarts will struggle vs. some of the big providers / internal efforts to get a better tool out, but hey ya never know
Daloopa already does this
I can get pretty good summarization already from o3, and with a little bit of prompting get it to produce outputs that are quite useful for what I need.
Haven't asked it to build a model for me yet but I know there are several wrappers that already do this.
Would be nice if it would auto populate a model with the updated historical data easily.
Creating a model for a company manually is useful since you learn better how the company’s financials work.
Artificial India that is pitched as Artificial Intelligence to raise venture funding is a far better solution than what you are proposing. So $0.
More useful things to build for analysts would be:
I'd love a "Jupyter notebook" for excel.
Interesting. How much would you pay for this automation? Do you mean in the sense that a person writes notes, the AI processes it, then takes the new input data and modifies the existing excel app?
