I feel stuck......

Tbh, this is more of a rant than anything.A little background on my career.

Started as an analyst on a small-ish commods firm on the energy desk. Gradually worked my way up to trader over the next couple of years.

As did most commods spec desks, we did really well over the covid years. That said, being the junior trader, I made some dough but nothing to brag about. For various reason, owners decided to shut the desk after cashing out.

I subsequently jumped to a hedge fund as an analyst looking at everything under the sun. The comp is good but the pacing is a lot slower than the trader role, further away from the pnl and no longer exposed to the potential massive upside. More importantly, I am no longer able to make calls.

Had a couple of contrarian views and recommendations this year. Didn't gain traction as the whole fund was heavily skewed the other way on a macro call that I felt they didn't fully understand or at least heavily biased.

Market proved me right and now feels too late to get into it.While this could be a "I told you so" moment but ultimately works against me as an analyst.

A full years of "I told you so"s won't get me paid as I am judged by my contributions to the trades. This requires the buy-in of the PMs pretty much ignores me and does their own thing. Leading to my frustration.

I want to jump back into trading but now am massively stuck.

1) My current base is too high for mid-junior trading roles. The HR pretty much immediately tunes out after I tell them my current comp.

2) I hear a lot of firms setting up commods desks thru the grapevine but positions available are almost exclusively limited to senior positions. So despite the supposed "boom", I am getting very little traction on the market.

Hence, sttuuucckkkkk
