I've never heard of a hedge fund specializing in IPOs. That'd be one of the most retarded trading strategies I could imagine.

New issues nearly always have large HF involvement. Arbitrage and event driven funds are all over IPOs.
Anyway...strategy is: Buy chunk of IPO during bookbuilding. Sell when stock goes up.

Why would it be the most retarded trading strat? Tons of volatility in IPOs and less public information so lots of room to get an edge.
