Isn't quant just a more complete version of discretionary

As I ramp up on a name and try to build my mosaic, I reach out for more and more information on the name. I can't consume everything ofc, so I have to be selective on the things I read and think about. Aren't algos just doing the same thing but better? They parse thru literally all the data on the name.
