Left industry… can i return?

I was recruited heavily during undergrad for internships in the quant space and on the sell side. With great mentorship and hard work, i was able to land internships at top/sophisticated firms on each side of the business. 

The door opened up for me post grad and i was a good prospect for a few quants to fill in trading seats. However, i left the finance industry to pursue something else that im also good at and can make me money. It’s more creative, but it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so i just said fuck it. So right now, im on the outside looking in. I’m still super young. But im trying to think long term because I do want to work in finance in the future.

It’s wild how life can change. I have all the pedigree in the world to be trading full time, but i am also passionate about what i have going on currently. The two industries don’t intersect at all. I see myself taking this risk outside of finance for a few years. 

Could i bounce back into trading full time in my late 20s? 

I have a great education from these firms. I still remember and am able to speak on the work i did at these firms at a high level. I stay updated with markets and do my own research/projects.

I also have a really strong network as well. I know the right people. But life will change and industries will follow suit. I still like finance and im proud of myself for accomplishing everything I’ve done, but i closed that chapter of my life indefinitely.
