London SM with very broad mandate
Hi All,
Is there any SM HF with an investment team in London, and with a broad Equity + Credit mandate ? Where can you explore L/S equity + credit + distressed opportunities as a junior in one given team ?
This forum talks a lot about either L/S MM, Long equity SM or Credit HF, but is there a place where you could potentially touch all these strategies ?
I understand the trade-off between a broad mandate and the lack of time to master the fundamentals of a particular industry / strategy, but would still be keen to put a name on the most generalist EU HF.

It's so hard to break into those as a junior. There's a reason why people focus on MM at this stage - they're the one recruiting at undergrad
Most usually family offices
In Geneva there is a shop (Jabre Capital) that does L/S, convertible bonds and fixed-income. The founder was a partner in GLG in its early days and then departed in 2007 when he opened the shop. It was one of the largest HFs in Europe back in the days ($6-7bn at peak) but it has then downsized massively and converted to a family office. It has a very small team from what I heard. Should still be active on both equity and credit (he was strong on convertible arbitrage) but little info available.
