Looking for some expertise
Hey,
I have a few questions for everyone here, hoping to get some expert opinions. I am a junior in college and will be graduating with a bs in accounting and finance. I currently work at a bank as a mortgage loan originator but what I dream of doing is eventually starting my own hedge/investment fund. What should be my next steps in your opinions, should I try to move into my current bank's wealth management division for the experience or should I maintain my position and after graduation try for a position outside the company at somewhere like Merrill Lynch/Raymond James/Fidelity etc? The one thing I am worried about is that due to where I live there are no real top universities to attend and I don't know how much that will effect my chances at one of the larger companies. I also am having trouble deciding whether I should pursue an MBA or if a CFA would be better for me since I don't have the opportunity to attend a top program. Thank you everyone for any insight or suggestions you have!!
Not sure myself, but here are a couple threads on the topic of MBAs and CFAs that may be of some help https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/hedge-funds-mba-vs-msf-vs-cfa-vs… and https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/cfa-and-hf-recruiting
