Macroecon or policy research at a HF
Hi all,
I recently saw a job ad for a hedge fund for someone to do macro econ research at a big fund. I have a PhD in sociology and have been trying to break out of academia for the last few years. The job ad was almost tailored for me in every way except for my geographic expertise. I took a shot, but doubt I would get a call back given my lack of experience in their target region. I am wondering if this was just a unique gig at this particular place - researching macroeconomic policy and government policy stuff (light on quant) - or if there might be opportunities like this elsewhere? And if so, how can I best approach these gigs? I am guessing networking is huge with this but just wanted to hear other perspectives.
Cheers.
