I wouldn't attach a pitch to every cold email. Most people won't read a full write-up from someone they don't know.
Keep the email short, mention why you're specifically reaching out to them, and ask for 15-20 minutes to learn about their career and the sector. If the conversation goes well, you can offer to send a pitch afterward or mention that you've been building investment ideas on your own.
For biotech specifically, demonstrating that you can think critically about clinical data, trial design, and valuation is usually more valuable than sending an unsolicited stock pitch. Quality of analysis matters much more than quantity.
I disagree. Sending a good writeup indicates you're serious about the search and aren't just fooling around. You're also contributing something, which makes many feel like they owe you the courtesy of a reply and maybe 15 minutes of their time. It's a way to differentiate yourself versus the 20 other similar requests they've received.
Even if they don't read it, there is nothing to lose in attaching a write-up.
