Oak Hill (OHA)
What do people think about Oak Hill Advisors (OHA) in terms of the job, prestige, exit opps? Their analysts seem to cover the entire credit spectrum (dis)stressed/private/LL/HY and specialize by industry. How is time typically split between different credit products in roles like this?
Heard it’s pretty terrible culture, can get silo'd into very little distress vs more HY/CLO work given the distinct separation of industry groups from the distressed drawdown capital they run with a separate team.
Much more passive than you'd think in active distressed / steering committee situations given their AUM.
Very solid job coming out of college but would definitely pass if you’re in banking given the other opportunities out there.

I hear they pay an insane first year number for fresh grads, anyone have data points on this?
Definitely not the case. Pretty sure first year base is 110 with expectation of 100% of base as bonus. In line with EBs, lower than other first year buyside programs.
Isn't that market for credit buyside programs? Which ones pay higher?
do first year EB’s really pay over 200k? or was that just the one 2021 year…
One of my close friends works there -- exits seem to be very good. Know a few have gone to Elliott, Redwood, Diameter, HPS Distressed, Attestor over last few years. Seem sharp and have across them in some interesting stuff. Very research oriented and more HF-esque culture vs. some other credit shops
would it be worth it to lateral from an EB to OHA FT? SA and really want to be on investing side for credit.
